SALVIO, Fred E. Fred Edward Salvio, 95 of Southington, passed away quietly on July 16, 2020 with his son, Gerald, by his side. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Santacroce) Salvio. Fred Salvio is a veteran of World War II where he was a Naval Aviator for U.S. Communications Intelligence (COMINT). He was the co-owner and operated D.S.O. Manufacturing Co. in New Britain. Fred “Freddie” was charming, good hearted and always willing to help. He lit up every space with his sense of humor, his priceless comments, and his larger than life smile. His love of music was ever present as you would always hear him whistling to music. Fred’s family was the light of his life. He was a devoted and loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Fred will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his son, Gerald Salvio and his wife, Lisa, of Newington; his brother, Louis Salvio and his wife Dorothy of New Britain; two grandchildren, Gerald Salvio, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Wethersfield; Christopher R. Salvio of Newington; one great grandson Aiden R. Salvio; his brother-in-law, Robert Martin of New Milford and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his daughter Deborah J. Salvio; his brothers Jerry J. Salvio and Eddie P. Salvio; and his four sisters, Susan H. DeLuzio, Elvera DiPace, Gilda S. Martin and Rose M. Salvio.
