Fred E. “Freddie” Davis, 79, of Virginia, IL died July 9, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born March 22, 1938 in Springfield, the son of Fred and Anna McGill Davis. He married Judy E. Darran on April 19, 1958 and she preceded him in death on June 26, 1986. He later married Annette Toquinto on August 14, 1987 and she survives.
He is also survived by five children, Cynthia Sturm (husband, James) of St. Louis, Kathleen Gollon (husband, Robert), Daniel Davis, and Jeffery Davis, all of Springfield, and Karan Marbold (husband, Greg); a step-daughter, Ninia Toquinto of Virginia; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son, Robert Nicholas.
Fred was a 1956 graduate of Springfield High School and a later graduate of Springfield College in Illinois. He was vice president of Capitol Engraving/Nutronic Manufacturing for 30 years and later served as a commercial account executive with Orkin Pest Control for 15 years. During his retirement, he worked with Sentinel Pest Control for several years.
He was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church and served with the Illinois Air National Guard from 1956-62. Freddie earned his Eagle Scout rank with palms as a young man. He remained devoted to scouting and was a former Cubmaster for Pack 126 in Virginia.
