Fred Cunningham was born on September 8, 1956 in Courtland, Alabama to the late Walter Sr. and the late Julia Mason Cunningham. He transitioned on February 5, 2022 at Huntsville Hospital.
He professed his hope in Christ at a young age. Fred was a faithful member of the Pentecostal House of Prayer under the leadership of the late Bishop A. C. Strong and later combined his membership with the United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer under the leadership of the Bishop Thomas D. Strong.
He was educated and graduated from the Decatur City Public Schools.
Fred was a dedicated worker with Aramark Uniform Service for 20+ years.
Fred loved his family where there was never a dull moment whenever he was around. He was a character when it came to giving his family all nick names. Some nick names made sense and some didn’t, but they all answered to them and some go by them even today. He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Jane Bolden; four brothers, Walter Cunningham, Percy Mason, Charles Cunningham and Shawn Rogers.
His memory will forever be cherished by: two sons, Fredrick Barrett, Corey Clay (April) of Hillsboro, AL; two daughters, Julia Griffin and Whitney Swoopes both of Decatur; four brothers, Ronnie Davenport (Doris), Town Creek, AL, Gary Davenport (Cynthia) of Tuscumbia, AL, Richard Pointer and Lee Davenport of Courtland, AL; seven sisters, Lillie Orr, Moulton, AL, Louvenia Guster, Sabrina Rogers, Della Carpenter and Yolanda Rogers all of Decatur, Ollie Davenport and Angela Reedus both of Courtland, AL, Carolyn Johnson (Marvin) of Huntsville, AL; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two aunts, Minnie White and Louisa Crutcher; one uncle, Charlie Mason; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
