Monson-Fred C. Anderson, 95, passed away Monday November 14, 2022. Fred was born in Monson April 21, 1927 to the late Fredolph and Agnes (Turner) Anderson. He was a graduate of Monson High School and a lifelong resident here. He was drafted into the Navy in 1945 and later volunteered for the Monson Fire Department.
Fred retired from Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary as Director after more than 40 years there. He had a profound knowledge of plants found in the wild and knew all of their botanical names. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, and especially UConn women’s basketball.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Jane (Linton) Anderson in 1988. Their later years together were spent country dancing and enjoying days in Matunuck, RI. He leaves his sons, David E. Anderson and his wife Deborah (Wright) and William J. Anderson and his wife Elizabeth (Barry) all of Monson; four granddaughters Melissa Anderson, Meghan Quesnel, Mollie Robidoux and Kelly Anderson and two great granddaughters, Elyse and Emma. He will be dearly missed by his friend Doris Schofield. Fred was predeceased by his brother, John Anderson and sisters, Hazel Nordin, Evelyn Pease and Esther Anderson.
