Franklin Earvin Becton, 80 passed away on March 21, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Millen, GA on July 22, 1930. Mr. Becton was the son of the late Lewis & Carrie Becton.
He was, also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy & Herbert Becton, and a sister, Grace Bush. Mr. Becton graduated from Manchester High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the Destroyer USS Boyd. Following his military service, he began his career with Colonial Stores in Augusta, GA, and later retired from Davison Minerals in Tyron, GA. Mr. Becton was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching sporting events.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Patsy Cornelius Becton, son Allan Becton and his wife Joan of Cartersville, daughter, Pam Henson, and husband Kerry of Newnan. Four grandchildren; Ashley & Bryant Evans of Rome, Justin Henson of Newnan, Allison & Joshua Becton of Milton, Florida. One great-granddaughter, Autumn Kennedy of Milton, Florida. A sister, Barbara Jean Waller of Manchester. Two brothers-in-law, Robert & Pam Cornelius of North Carolina, and Johnny & Jackie Cornelius of Savannah. Several nieces & nephews.
