Franklin “Frankie” Delano Daniels, 86, passed away January 16, 2021.
Franklin was the sixth of nine children born to Joseph James Daniels Sr. of Macomb, IL, and Myrtle Mae Woymack of Whiteside, Missouri. Most of Franklin’s childhood was spent in Macomb, IL, from 1934 to 1954. He attended Lincoln Grade School and Edison Junior High. In 1951, the Daniels family relocated to Jacksonville, IL, where Franklin attended Jacksonville Senior High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force.
Franklin enlisted in the Air Force on July 27, 1954, serving his country for 20 yrs, 11 months, and four days. His official retirement date was July 1, 1975. During his time in the service, “DAN,” as he was called by the enlisted men and women who worked alongside him, received many Air Force training certificates and an Air Force Commendation Medal for service.
Franklin retired from the Air Force in Victorville, CA, where he took a job at CEMEX. He worked for CEMEX from 1975 to 1999. After retiring, the hardworking man he was, Franklin took on odd jobs and even went back to college for a brief period until his health prevented him from continuing to do so in 2016. In October 2016, Franklin relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he would spend his remaining days until he was called from his long labor to his reward on January 16, 2021, at 9:15 p.m. Franklin is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Judith Banks Daniels of Victorville, CA, son Franklin Daniels Jr, wife Monica of Springfield IL, daughter Crystal Daniels of Victorville, CA, son Paul Daniels of Victorville CA, Parents Joseph and Myrtle Daniels of Jacksonville, Siblings – Leslie Daniels of Macomb, IL, Donald Daniels, wife Elizabeth of Des Moines IA, Leroy Daniels, wife Mae of Macomb IL, Joseph Daniels Jr. wife Jessie of Macomb IL, Geri Daniels of Jacksonville IL, Lorraine Wheeler, husband Clint, Hazel Robinson, husband Paul and Barbra Wilson, husband Thomas of Jacksonville, IL.
Franklin is survived by his children Fredrick Daniels, wife Rosa of Gurnee, IL, Perry Daniels of Springfield, IL, Broderick Daniels, wife Caroline of Jacksonville, Il, Veronica Burton of Los Angeles, CA, Logan Daniels, wife Kymberly of Kansas City, MO, Donna Burton Bess of Los Angeles, CA, Robin Daniels, wife Cynthia of Springfield, IL, Yvonne Daniels Nieves, husband Miguel of Las Vegas, NV, Jonathan Daniels of Las Vegas, NV and Tiffany Daniels of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
