Franklin D. Scudder, age 83 of Freeport, Freeport, IL, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. He was born November 14, 1934 in Loves Park, IL; the son of the late Lee and Kathryn (Resh) Scudder. Franklin married Mary Alber on June 4, 1960; she passed on January 19, 2013.
He had worked at the Lugano Cheese Factory in Orangeville, IL and later at the Alfolkey Cheese Factory in Alfolkey, IL. Franklin then worked for Kelly Springfield for 28 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the United Steel Workers. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and basketball. His favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox. Franklin will be remembered most for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughters, Therese Boudreau of Superior, WI, Rosemary (Dean) West of Rockford, and Peggy (Sean) O’Mara of Freeport; son, Thomas (Denise) Scudder of Orangeville; grandchildren, Nate, Nick, Hope, Anthony, Kristin, Heather, and Ashton; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Lee (Kay) Scudder, Jr., David Scudder, and Vernon (Dottie) Scudder; sisters, Norma Hille, Myrtle (Rudy) Schneider, Betty Amodeo, Barbara (Roger) Stuckiwisch, and Mary Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob, Charles, Albert, Millard, Emanuel, and Curtis; and sisters, Kathryn King, Rose Mani, Edna Baker, Dorothy Scudder and Leona Weber
