Frank R. Romano, age 92, of Geneva, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 25, 1928 in New York City, New York, the son of Frank Romano and Elizabeth Olm.
Family was most important to Frank.
Frank lived a very fulfilling and rewarding life. Throughout his life, he was passionate about baseball and softball. It all started as a young boy when he played stick ball with a rubber ball and broomstick handle in the streets of New York. He continued playing softball throughout his life in various leagues, making lifelong friends.
Frank received his bachelor’s degree from IIT and an MBA from DePaul. He was very proud to serve in the Army during the Korean War. One of his major accomplishments was attaining the rank of Staff Sargent in just 13 months. While in the military he met his beloved wife, Gloria, at a USO event.
Frank’s lifelong career included selling computer systems for several companies. He was a very successful salesman and was awarded various trips through work which he and Gloria enjoyed. He worked very hard to support his family.
Frank was dedicated to caring for Gloria and always showing endless love for her. Even as his health began to decline, he made Gloria’s health and happiness a priority. She meant the world to him. Throughout his life he touched others with his humor, kindness, and love.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Gloria (Regnell); children Dave of Geneva, Karen (Ed) Schneider of Geneva, Paula (Barry) Woodrick of Elroy, Wisconsin, daughter-in-law Debbie Romano, grandchildren Brian (Candis) Romano, Tim (Daisy) Romano, Lindsay (Peter) Cook, Laura (Chris) Blasko, Nicole Schneider, and Garth (Tayler) Woodrick; great-grandchildren Dylan, Tyler, Rylee, Sonja, Elijah, Everett; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Michael Schneider.
