Frank P. DeLizio of Burlington City passed away Sunday December 27, 2020 at Virtua Hospital in Willingboro at the age of 83. Born in Newark, Frank was a longtime Burlington resident. After graduating high school, he first attended Shelton College, studying to be a minister, eventually he transitioned to teaching. Frank began his teaching career working at a school for the disabled, finding creative methods through art and music to connect with and teach his students. He then began a long tenure in the Burlington City School district teaching English and History in the Wilbur Watts Middle School. He was a caring teacher who was always there for his students.
Frank is well known in the community by former students who remembered him as someone who led by example, and taught life lessons that would help carry his students through life’s challenges. Many former students have commented that he was their favorite teacher. A religious man, Frank attended First Baptist Church of Willingboro, and later in life, First Baptist Church of Burlington City. He sang through special music, using the beautiful voice God gave him.
Anyone who knew Frank, knew that he was all about family. Those that knew him will remember him as a selfless person who put family first. He was a fantastic father and grandfather who led by example in a kind, Christian home. He was very patriotic and although not a veteran himself was extremely supportive of several veteran’s organizations. Frank was predeceased by his wife Ann Marie. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and their spouses; Shannon DeLizio (Hector Bonilla), Dawn DelRio (Arturo), Frank C. DeLizio (MiKi), and his grandchildren; Natalia Bonilla, Hector Bonilla, Arturo DelRio, Diego DelRio, Justin Pak and Alyssa DeLizio.
