Frank M. Feffer Jr., born November 10, 1923, in Springfield, Illinois, to Frank M. Feffer Sr., and Carolyn Kuhn Feffer, passed away in his sleep on April 18, 2015 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona. The eldest of three children, Frank, Joseph Kuhn Feffer (deceased) and Carol Cain (deceased), the family moved to Phoenix in 1934. Frank attended Emerson Grammar School, and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1941. He attended Phoenix Junior College until he joined the Army Air Corp in 1942. While serving as a Bombardier/ Navigator in a B-17, he and his crew flew 35 missions for the 8th Air Force over Europe. After his honorable discharge from the Air Corp., he attended Oregon State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in soil chemistry. While there he met and wed Suzanne Nelson in 1947. They had three children, Linda (deceased), Frank James, and Alan Feffer. After graduation he joined Arizona Fertilizer, eventually Arizona Agro-Chem, holding various positions until he became President. He continued his education, attending various management programs including a ten week course in advanced management at Columbia University. Through his efforts, the company developed Firetrol, a product used in the aerial fighting of wildfires both in and outside of the United States. In 1963, Frank won the heart and hand of his precious wife Kay Petley, whose two children, Vickie and Robert (deceased), joined his family. Beginning with a contract to develop the distribution system of the Afghan Fertilizer Company in 1971, Frank embarked on a twenty year career in international agricultural consulting throughout Africa, Asia and Australia, forming and nurturing Chemonics International and winning numerous contracts through AID. He retired in 1993. Thereafter he traveled extensively with his beloved Kay until her untimely death in 2007. During his working career he served as a Director and President of the Arizona Agricultural Chemical Association, Director of the Western Agricultural Association, Director of Anachemia Science, Director and President of the Arizona Club and Director of Erly Industries. He served on the Sun Angels board, was a member of the Phoenix Rotary and Moon Valley Country Club. He loved playing cards and golf. He is survived by two sons, Jim and Alan Feffer, one daughter, Vickie Petley, five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He had many friends and will miss them all.
