Frank L. Long, III, 44, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg. Frank was born October 8, 1970 in Galesburg, the son of Judy St. John and Gail B. Long. They both survive of Galesburg.
Frank is also survived by two amazing children; Thomas Long, 16, and Dorothy Long, 8. He has one sibling, Malena McElmurry, who will miss him dearly and cherish many memories; two nieces, Tailsa McClendon and Raiyanna McElmurry; a great niece and a great nephew. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ethel and Frank Anderson; paternal grandparents, Elveree Ehlen and Frank L. Long, II; and several uncles. Frank Graduated from Galesburg in 1989 and for the past three years has been attending Carl Sandburg College. He trained in TaeKwonDo and Hapkido at Galesburg Academy of Martial Arts. He was a lifetime member of the International Combat Hapkido Federation. He earned his first degree black belt in Chon-Tu Kwan Hapkido in May, 2015. Frank was the first Hapkido black belt to be promoted at GAMA.
Frank inspired many with his strong will and determination to succeed. He didn’t let anything slow him down or keep him from being himself. Words cannot express how much he will be missed!
