Frank Joseph Winkowski Jr., of New Lothrop,died peacefully at the Hospice House in Shiawassee County on June 5, 2024, at the age of 91.Frank was born on June 17, 1932, the son of Frank Sr. and Marie (Derwinski) Winkowski in Flint, Michigan. He attended All Saints Catholic High School until the 10th grade. He then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951, where he served as a Gunners Mate on the USS Bennington during the Korean War, until his discharge in 1954. He married his wife, Janet Morse, at St. Roberts Catholic Church in Flushing, on November 9, 1957. Following his time on the military, he worked as a carpenter with Dick Lucious until he retired in 1998.Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting deer and pheasants, and was an active member at the VFW Post #6579 in New Lothrop.Frank is survived by his wife, Janet Winkowski; son, Matt Winkowski; siblings, Jeanette Asher, and Leonard Winkowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie; sister, Antoinette (Jim) Ryan; and brother-in-law, Norman Asher.
