Obituary

TURBOTVILLE — Frank J. Sloss, Jr., 69, of Hagerman Road, Turbotville passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 at his home.

Born February 4, 1939 in Venango County, he was the song of the late Frank J. Sr. and Julia (Reid) Sloss. A native of Franklin, he had attended school in Rocky Grove but had resided in Montour County the past 26 years. On June 9, 1984 he married the former Ellen M. Hartman and they have celebrated 23 years of marriage.

Frank was a self-employed truck driver for many years and for the past seven years was driving for Landstar, Inc.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the early 1960’s.

He enjoyed bowling earlier in life, but he loved spending any free time he had with his family.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, John F. Sloss, Sr. of Clintonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Danelle L. and Shane Nicholas of Watsontown; three grandchildren: John F. Sloss, Jr., Hope Dye and Kaleb Nicholas; three great-granddaughters: Baylee, Mackenzee, and Addyson Dye; two brothers: Paul and Dale Sloss, both of Franklin; a sister, Ina Grove of Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews, especially Janney Flora who had lived with them earlier.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was a sister, Janet Sloss who died in infancy and a brother, David Sloss.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville with the Rev. Robert D. Barner, Geisinger Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Turbotville Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 PM Thursday and from noon to 1 PM Friday. The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Geisinger Hospice 24-11, 100 North Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822.
