Frank Albert Frucci, age 88 years, formerly of Niles, Michigan died on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Seaton Medical Center in San Mateo, California following an illness.
He was born on August 27, 1925 in Niles to Francis and Catherine (Frucci) Frucci as a child of the first generation born in the United States. He was graduated from Niles High School, enlisted in the United States Navy, served as an aviation radioman, and was a Veteran of World War II. He then attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
Frank lived for many years in Washington, D.C. working in various art studios. He worked in several media, but his greatest interest was stained glass. He was honored to assist a fellow artist with a stained glass commission at the National Cathedral.
In the 1960’s, Frank moved to California and began a career in the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed the community of artists and the performing arts in California, and was a benefactor to several organizations.
Surviving family includes a brother, Joseph Frucci of Miami, Florida; and many nieces and nephews including Lisa Frucci and Todd Villeneuve of Niles, and Joseph Frucci of South Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Gentilo “Tony” Frucci and sisters, Brondie Callander, Celeste Shively, and Catherine Villeneuve.
