Frank B. Hobbs Jr., 89, of Ferndale, Maryland passed away on Sunday Dec 26, 2021. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Frank and Mary May (Smith) Hobbs. He attended Polytechnic High School. He was married in 1952 to Amelia Wigger. They were married for 62 ½ years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Maryland. He was very active in the German community .
He had learned the German language and spoke it fluently. He served as President of the Edelweiss Club for more than 10 years. He loved to play Saint Nicholas at German events and worked the beer stand at the German Festival in Baltimore, Maryland. He belonged to The German Society and Ladies Auxiliary of the German Society. He had retired from Asphalt Service Company in 1996 where he worked for 46 years. He started there right out of high school and advanced within the company taking on increasingly responsible positions.
He enjoyed singing, making new friends, watching and talking about boxing, watching Oriole games and reminiscing about times and travel with Amelia.
Frank was predeceased by his wife Amelia and two siblings – Rose Wood and Frances Winter.
Frank is survived by his devoted sister Lorraine Cusick, three loving children: Frank Hobbs, Diane Hobbs-Mills, and Kathleen Formosa. He is also survived by five grandchildren : Joshua, Ryan, Lauren, Justin and Carmela, and four great-grandchildren : Nathan, Ian, Sofia and Lena.
