Frank Bartels, Jr. 87, of Peru, passed away September 10, 2011 at Heritage Health of Peru.

Mr. Bartels was born June 24, 1924 in Peru to Frank and Domitilde (Dupont) Bartels. He married Margaret Marge Kettleborough on July 4, 1948 in Peru. She passed away April 9, 2001. He was a WWII Disabled Veteran serving in the United States Army in France, Germany and Battle of the Bulge under General Patton. He received an Honorable Discharge and received a Purple Heart with the Oak Leaf Cluster. Was a Life Time member of Peru VFW Post 8232, and Chaplin of the Cooties of their fun group. Also a Life Time Member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion of Peru. He worked for Westclox as a supervisor for 30 years in Quality Control Dept, Hobbs Division as manager of Quality Control, Rock Island Arsenal for 12 years as a Quality Control Product Audit Inspector.

Surviving are his 2 daughters; Trudy (Tom) Cairns of Dow, IL and Laura Raymond and close friend Frederick Westmoreland III of Elizabeth City, North Carolina ,currently of Peru, Il and a son David (Jeannette Boisso) Bartels of Peru; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers Eugene (Phyllis) Bartels of Fairbanks, Alaska and Robert Bartels of Hudson, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marge and a brother Louis Bartels
