Callaghan1956~2020Francis Michael Callaghan Sr, 64, passed away peacefully on July 14th 2020 in Royersford, PA. Francis, or Frank as he was better known, was born in 1956 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Cornelius Callaghan and the late Carmella Callaghan (nee Rotandi). He grew up in Havertown, PA. and is a 1974 graduate of Haverford Senior High School. Frank is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Alice Rodgers and brother-in-law Robert Rodgers. He is survived by his brothers, David (Marilyn) Callaghan and Cornelius “Connie” (Patricia) Callaghan. Frank is also survived by his 10 children, Tara (Łukasz) Szymanski, Francis (Julie) Callaghan Jr., Stephanie (Steven) Laret, James Callaghan, Julia (Daniel) Sturm, Catherine (Austin) Shaw, Michelle Callaghan, Courtney (Jack) Potter, Kelly Callaghan, and Theresa Callaghan, and his children’s mother and former spouse, Theresa A. Callaghan (nee Smith). He is survived by 19 grandchildren: James, Brooklyn, Peter, Alexander, Kyler, Everleigh, Kainen, Daniel, Hanna, Brienza, Gideon, Charlotte, Robert, Riley, Brynleigh, Olivia, Norah, Jacqueline, and Sophia. Frank will be remembered for his one of a kind humor, wit, and charisma. He was an avid sports fan with unflagging loyalty to all things Philadelphia sports, having particular devotion to Flyers hockey. He also loved the Phils, the Eags, Babe Ruth and, yes, the Yankees (his “American League Team” he’d say). Frank’s hobbies included playing on adult league hockey and softball teams. He loved attending and participating in his children’s little league games and sharing his love for oldies music (especially from Elvis and The Beatles) and musical theatre. He was known for facilitating fun dinner table games like movie trivia, 20 Questions and “I Spy”, and for his endless, witty debates and banter. He strongly disliked cats and country music.
