GABRIELFrank K. Gabriel of Springfield, passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 90 on Saturday July 21st, 2018. He started his career as a mechanical engineer at Westinghouse after graduating from Drexel University in 1952.Gabriel was manager of Development Center Operations and Engine Instrumentation in the Engineering Department of Combustion Turbine Generators for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation located in Concordville. He was a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, where he served as chairman of the Philadelphia Section. He was also a member of the Instrument Society of America, Society of Experimental Stress Analysis, and the Vibration Institute. Gabriel has written several papers on thermal stress analysis and specialized techniques in the measurement of surface temperatures, high temperature gas environments, high temperature stress, strain, and vibration. He has several U.S. Patents and Disclosures in the area of turbine cooling and supervisory is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Serra Club International and the Men of Malvern for 50 years.
