Francis “Bucko” Barsi, 91, of Ottawa died July 27, at his home.
Frank was born on October 23, 1922 in Seneca, to Levio and Mae (O’Connor) Barsi. He attended St. Patrick School, Seneca High School, and Cook County Radiologic Technician Training in Chicago. He worked in the Seneca Shipyards building LST Ships and was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Saipan. He was employed as an X-Ray technician at Ryburn Hospital in Ottawa, retiring from St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator in 1986. He married Phyllis Frederisy on September 8, 1951, in St. Patrick’s Church in Dwight. He was a member of St. Columba Church, and the Knights of Columbus. “Bucko” easily made friends in his travels and was well liked by people of all ages. His pace changed but he kept on working around his home and helping others. Frank was very proud that he passed his driving exam each year.
He is survived by three children: Barbara (Alan) Froehling, of Mt. Vernon, Steven Barsi, of Mt. Vernon, and David Barsi, of Seneca, 9 grandchildren: John, Matthew, Erica, Dan and Michael Barsi, Natasha Heitman, Sonya Heer, Nadia and Andrei Froehling, and 3 great-grandchildren; Braydin, Siobhan, and Chayse, and a long-time friend, Delores Tattersall. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1968, and two sisters, Mary Mitchell and Rita Thomas.
