Francis H. Barlow, 84, of Tunnelton, WV passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at Preston Memorial Hospital.
Born September 11, 1931 in Howesville, Francis was the youngest child of the late Frank and Nellie (Greaser) Barlow. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired after 40 years as a coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company of Bayard, WV. After his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, being with his family, and for many years was a big WVU Mountaineer fan. He was a member of St. Sabastian and St. Edwards Catholic Church of Preston County, and his home parish of St. Joseph’s in Howesville.
He is survived by his companion, Carol Ann Beveridge of Kingwood, his four sons and spouses, David Michael “Mike” and Tammy Barlow of Tunnelton, Terry A. and Cindy Barlow of Reedsville, Randal and Patty Barlow of Tunnelton and Christopher L. and Buffy Barlow of Kingwood; two daughters and spouses, Mary Frances and Tim Newton of Kingwood and Carol Sue and Richard Miller of Tunnelton; three step-brothers, Bobby Calvert, Paul Calvert and Fred Calvert, all of Kingwood; two step-sisters, Carolyn Fischer of Kingwood and Nellie Marie Nimcheck of Morgantown; sister-in-law, Hilma Barlow of Kingwood; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Christine (Spangler) Barlow in 1994; four brothers, John, Fred, George and Dale Barlow; two sisters, Mary Agnes Calvert and Bertha Riggins; sisters-in-law, Genieve and Claira Barlow; two brothers-in-law, Harry Calvert and Bud Riggins.
