South Bend – Francis G. Connors, 93, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2014, in Hamilton Communities, New Carlisle. He was born on September 22, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Frank S. and Margaret (Wisneski) Connors. In 1941 he married Virginia Powers, who preceded him in death in 1990. He married Betty Devenport in 1993 and she passed away in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his long time companion, Joan Stevens in 2013; a sister, Irene Shirf; and by two brothers, James and Andrew Connors. Francis is survived by his sons, Francis G. (Cheryl) of South Bend, James (Mary Lynn) and John (Janice) both of New Carlisle; ten grandchildren, Frank (Treva) Connors, Steven, Ruth, Audrey (Caleb)Hunt, Tammy (Dwayne) Miller, Kerry Connors, Michael (Megan) Connors, Robert (Tricia) Connors, Angela Fadke and John (Bronnie Arnz) Connors; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Aponas of Jacksonville, FL; and by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Connors of South Bend. Mr. Connors worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Bendix for 32 years, before retiring in 1982. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran Master Sergeant, a member of the American Legion Post #357, the Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree, South Bend and a long time Moose member. He loved ballroom dancing and went whenever he could. He also loved to Polka.
