Salem Francis Anthony Langer, 88, of Salem, WV. died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at New Martinsville Health Care Center, New Martinsville, WV. He was born March 2, 1922, in Elizabeth, NJ, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. and Caroline Heuston Langer. On July 22, 1949, he married Barbara A. Nelson, who preceded him in death on June 7, 1970. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Martha Langer. Mr Langer is survived by four sons, Christian Langer, Nashville, TN; David and wife Vicki Langer, New Martinsville, WV; Loring Langer, Fairmont, WV; and Timothy and wife Pam Langer, West Milford, WV; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Langer, Huntington, WV, Eric and wife Tomeeka Langer, Fairmont, WV, and twins Ethan and Kyle Langer, both of West Milford. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and graduated from the University of Miami and Florida State University. He worked for many years as a librarian at various colleges and universities, including Salem College, Salem, WV, and at the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library, Clarksburg, WV. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Clarksburg, WV.
