Francis A.”Blitz” Krafty, Sr., 86, formerly of Fountain Hill, passed away Tuesday March 2, 2010, in Blough Health Care Center in Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth K. (Konrad) Krafty who passed away on 12/14/1985. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary (Sonnleitner) Krafty. Blitz was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp. as a Draftsman for 43 years until retiring in 1983. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy. He was a member of the University Parish of Holy Ghost in Bethlehem. Blitz also belonged to St. Bernard’s, the former Fountain Hill Bennies and the former Bethlehem Steel Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his entire family. Survivors: sons Francis “Sam” Krafty and his wife Mary Jo of Bangor, James Krafty and his wife Ellen of Westbrook, CT, John Krafty and his husband Clayton Cox of Forks Twp.; daughters Dr. Mary Beth Krafty and her life partner Theresa Partridge of Connellsville, PA and Lisa (Krafty) Taylor and her husband Alan of Paton, IA; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Helen (Koprivsek), Jacob, John, Joe, Walter and Catherine.
