Francesco “Frank” Germano, 92, of Lebanon and formerly of New Britain, beloved husband of Concettina “Connie” (Scata) Germano, passed away Thursday morning (Jan. 22, 2015) at the Wm. W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, with his loving wife by his side.

Born August 29, 1922 in Solarino, Sicily, he was the son of the late Antonino and Giovanna (Lonero) Germano. Mr. Germano was a proud veteran of the Italian Army, having served during WWII.

He married Concettina in 1947. The couple emigrated to the United States in 1959, settling in New Britain, where he owned and operated Modern Shoe Repair. He also worked for a time with Fafnir Bearing in New Britain.

Frank enjoyed gardening but most importantly, he will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He will be sadly missed but always remembered by his loving wife of 67 years, he also leaves a daughter, Joanne Nowosad and husband, John of Lebanon; two sons, Anthony Germano and wife, Ginger of Old Saybrook and Emanuel “Manny” Germano of Berlin; he leaves three brothers; Sal Germano and wife, Carmela of Newington, Paul Germano and wife, Maria of Sicily, and Joseph Germano of Australia; two sisters; Paula Puglisi, and husband Joe of Sicily. A sister Concettina Liistro predeceased him. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Robert, Jason, James, Michael, Anthony, Frank and Alyssa; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
