Young, Frances H.
87, passed away on March 30, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was a resident of South Scottsdale since the early 1960’s. Frances was born May 4, 1921 in Bridgetown, Texas to Minnie Grace and James Thomas Mitchell. She served our country during World War II as a member of the US Navy WAVES. Shortly after moving to the Valley in 1963, Frances became involved in the Scottsdale Community. Mrs. Young was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend and community leader. She was a counselor at Coronado High School, an active member of St. Daniel’s Parish and a founding member of Concerned Citizens and Vista Del Camino. She is most well known for her work with the Yaqui community of Penjamo and minority rights in South Scottsdale. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her sister Wanda and brother Don. She is survived by her brother Jerry, son Mitchell and daughters Dorotha, Alice, Cherylea, Geri and Rosemary, grandchildren Casey, Jami, Erin, Adriane, Shannon, Ryan, Sean W., Sean F. and Brendan, great-grandchildren Khalil, Mackenzie, Madye, Julia, Cassius, Elijah, Amelia, Ian, Honey, Atticus, Alec, Preston and another on the way.
