On August 10, 2022, Frances Ann (Frannie) peacefully passed away at her home in Temple Hills, Maryland.

Frances was educated in the New Haven Public School System and graduated from Hillhouse High School. She furthered her education at St. Raphael School of Nursing in New Haven, Connecticut, and later received a BA degree in Nursing Administration at St. Joseph’s College in Maine.  Frances parlayed her extraordinary talents and skills into over four decades of a successful career at Freedman’s Hospital and then Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C.  She received numerous honors and awards during her career as a Registered Nurse and a Hospital Administrator.

Frannie, our “shero,” will be remembered for her generous spirit, quiet dignity, gentle persona, and love of family. Those who know her knew she did not like to be “fussed over.” She was a private person who enjoyed family and close friends and always thought about the needs of others.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her sister, Maitland (Wormley) Caesar, and her brother Lindsey Wormley.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Carla Adele Battle, William Garland Battle (Rise’), Violetta Rochelle Battle (Joseph Olley, Sr.); her grandson Joseph Andrew Olley, Jr., her sisters, Helena Rogers and Violetta Smith, and brother, Livingston Wormley (Amy); six nieces, six nephews, and a host of extended relatives and lifelong friends.
