Frances Sarah, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Banwart) Marti, was born August 15, 1917 in Duval, Missouri. She attended country school there as a young girl. After receiving her education, Frances worked at the Key Overall factory in Fort Scott, Kansas. Frances was united in marriage with Oscar Zaugg April 16, 1944 in Fort Scott, Kansas. The couple made their home and raised their five children in West Bend, Iowa where Frances resided until her death at the age of 99 years on July 11, 2017 at the West Bend Health and Rehab Center. Frances was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in West Bend and she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and baking cookies. She was even referred to as Grandma Cookie by some of her grandchildren. Survivors include Frances’ children: James (Barbara) Zaugg of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Martin (Doris) Zaugg of West Bend, Iowa, Norman (Polly) Zaugg of Rolfe, Iowa, Lavilla (Marty) Langhofer of South Bend, Indiana and Pat (Julie) Zaugg of West Bend, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; 79 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother Gene (Mary) Marti of Sabetha, Kansas; brother-in-law Alphia Strahm of Sabetha, Kansas; and sisters-in-law Ruby (Bob) Besch of Rodman, Iowa and Dorothy Zaugg of West Bend, Iowa. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar in 1992, and sisters Lorene, Lucy, Evelyn and Mamie.
