Frances “Dolly” Rosemary Amato-Simplot, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022, in Orange Park, FL. Dolly graduated from Ferris High School in 1951. She worked as a Librarian for the Jersey City Public Library System for 12 years. During that time, she met the love of her life, Cecil Simplot, at a USO Times Square Dance–Cecil was a Navy Seaman on a furlough from the Korean War. Cecil and Dolly married on November 14, 1954 in New Jersey and went on to have four beautiful daughters. In 1971 the family moved from New Jersey to Washington to start a new life as Washingtonians. Dolly then moved to Orange Park in 2019.
Frances was a ball of fire and energy, and was loved by many. Her hobbies included cooking for her family and friends, shopping, politics, knitting, decorating for the holidays, and BINGO! Dolly was an avid football fan and loved the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Huskies. She belonged to the UW Tyee Club and attended all Rose Bowl Games. Dolly worked proudly as a Librarian and retired from the Bellingham Library System. Dolly will be remembered most for her exuberance for life, family, and friends.
Dolly is survived by her loving daughters; Deborah (Sonny) Banks, Marlene (Dale) Dunphy, Darlene (Michael) Casper, and Diane (Sherman Smith) Simplot. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis (Joseph) Cali ;and brother, Ralph (Virginia) Amato; and brother-in-law, Michael (Phyllis) Simplot. Dolly was a proud grandmother of Christopher, Michelle and Erin and a great-grandmother to five beautiful children. Dolly is proceeded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cecil Robert Simplot; her parents, Matthew and Josephine Amato; her sister, Anna Sullivan; her brothers; Matthew Amato and Frank Amato; and sister-in-law, Doris Amato; brothers-in-law; Joseph Cali and James Sullivan.
