STEM- Mrs. Frances Marie Spruill Overby, 92, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Mrs. Overby was born on March 2, 1927 to Benjamin and Mary Jane Spruill in Washington County, NC. Frances was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church for over 50 years where she worked in the nursery for over 35 years and was a member of the Lydia Ladies group. She enjoyed working in her garden and donating blood. Frances received her certificate from the Red Cross for donating 21 gallons of blood. She was always encouraging others to donate. Frances was a member of the Disabled American Veterans for over 25 years where she was a former Commander of the Ladies’ Axillary. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mary Jane Spruill; her husband, Holston Overby; two daughters; brother, Wesley Barnes; and sister, Louise McIzzie. She is survived by her son, Eddie C. Spruill (Lori); daughter, Jean Gaydou (Pete); stepchildren, Donna Byrd (Rod) and Ray Overby; grandchildren, Vicki Ann Sandy (Grady), and Edward Lee Spruill (Angie); great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Pirrocco (Anthony), Brittany Pritchett (Matt), and Brianna Lee Spruill; and many other loving family members.m.m.
