Frances Marie French, age 68, of Keymar, Maryland, died on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 8, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Roy Mansfield of Owings Mills, Maryland, and the late Mary (Paff) Mansfield who died in April 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Richard Emerson French.

Frances was a devout communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Taneytown where she participated on the Altar Guild. She was a 1960 graduate of Seton High School in Baltimore and later graduated from the nursing program at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore as a registered nurse. She was retired as a charge nurse in the South O.R. with the University of Maryland Medical System. Frances loved crafting, making handmade wreaths, knitting and crocheting blankets for Project Linus. She especially loved horses, feeding birds, rescuing animals, and was an avid horseback rider.

Surviving in addition to her husband and father are children, Bradley French of Fairfield, PA, Christine Lucas and husband Scott of New Oxford, PA, and Jennifer French of Keymar; grandsons, Roy “Kyle” Lucas and Wade Lucas; brothers, David Mansfield of Owings Mills, and Joseph Mansfield of Westminster; cousin William Madden of Middle River, MD; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John “Michael” Mansfield.
