Reflections of Life
Born on June 5, 1949, Mae Frances Gandy was joyfully born to the late Seth and Anne Mae Gandy. Born and raised in West Point, Mississippi, Mae Frances was one of eleven musically inclined and nurturing children. In 1965 the Gandy tribe relocated to Sunny San Diego, where Mae Frances attended San Diego High School. Upon graduating, she attended Allied School of Business, where she obtained a Certificate in Medical Assistant.
Mae Frances was both a compassionate and generous woman of God, however she was known to be a straight shooter. Her enjoyment of helping others lead her to a career as an Office Clerk at North Island Naval Station. She then worked as a receptionist at Paradise Valley Hospital. She met and married Robert Harris in 1970. From this union came two beautiful children, Steven and Angela. In 2013 she married and remained in a blissful marriage with her beloved husband Raymond Toliver until her passing.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus. Frances was a dedicated mother and wife, she loved her family dearly and would do anything to support them. She enjoyed going to the park and listening to music. Her favorite R&B singer was Smokey Robinson. Her favorite Gospel singer was The Canton Spirituals (Father I’m Coming Home), her favorite food was spaghetti (after enjoying a spaghetti dinner, she would say, “Oh! That was filling.). She loved to get her nails painted, and loved collecting different perfumes. Five days after her birthday, she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Frances was loved dearly and will live on forever in our hearts.
