Mr. Forrest Q. Cooper, Age 95, of Vanceburg, Ky., passed away Saturday November 9th, 2019 at the Maysville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Maysville, Ky., after an extended illness.
Forrest was born in Eby, Ky. March 9, 1924 to the late Columbus W. and Oma P. Roe Cooper.
Was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. in Vanceburg, Ky., also was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army in which he served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific for 25 months. After the war he started working for the Pennsylvania Railroad; then started working for Westinghouse Corporation in Mansfield, Ohio for 25 years. Was owner and operator of Cooper Brothers Tire and Auto Parts which he started in 1965. Forrest was an avid horseshoe player and traveled all over the country where he participated in at least 22 horseshoe tournaments.
Forrest was inducted into the Kentucky Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 1997.
Left to cherish his memories are two sons- Wayson (Patty) Cooper of South Shore, Ky; and Jeff (Debbie) Cooper of Morehead, Ky.
15-grandchildren and 18-great-grandchildren also survive who will mourn his passing.
Preceded Forrest in death beside his parents was his wife of 70 years Eloise Kinney Cooper, one son- Miles Quintin Cooper, one great-grandchild- Toby Cooper, 3-sisters- Mabel Heath, Genieva Gilbert Shumway, and Avanelle Cooper. 8-brothers- Chester, Rudolph, Wallace, Vernon, Lionel, Donald, Corbett and Columbus W. Cooper, Jr.
