Forest Shope, May 28, 1925 – July 18, 2011.

Forest R. “Toy” Shope, 86, of Moffat. Mr. Shope died Monday July 18, 2011 in a Temple hospital. Mr. Shope was born May 28, 1925 in Rockford, Ohio in Mercer County, the son of James Shope and Ethel (Snyder) Shope. He was the fourth of six children. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 – 1946. He married Virginia Lee Jones of Killeen October 26, 1946 in Belton; they had 64 precious years together.

Mr. Shope was a heavy equipment operator for many years retiring in 1989. He was a retired member of Operating Engineers. He was a charter member of Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church in Belton. Mr. Shope was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Shope of Moffat, one son and daughter-in-law Forest Lee Shope and wife Latecia (Tish) of Moffat, two daughters Doris Miller of Belton and Debbie Roberts and son-in-law Tommie of Belton. One sister Jean Springer and husband Richard of Rockford, Ohio; also one special friend and brother-in-law Jimmy Jones and wife Thalia of Daingerfield. Ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
