Floyd William Southwick, 78, of Rupert, ID passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Floyd was born November 22, 1938 in Jerome, Idaho to Clyde D. and Louise D. Southwick. Floyd grew up and attended grade school in Wendell and Gooding, ID. In 1953 his family moved to Bruneau, ID where Floyd attended high school and played baseball and basketball.

Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Army February 1959 and served until April 1962. During his tour of duty he was a military policeman and served in Panama and Yuma, Arizona. After being discharged, he came home to King Hill, ID and farmed with his father for one year. During this time Floyd met Virginia K Porter and married September 8, 1962. She had two sons Charles and Edward who he later adopted.

Floyd and family then moved to Meridian, ID in 1963 where William F Southwick was born. In 1964 they moved to Murtaugh, ID where Floyd farmed until December 1968. During that time Phillip Southwick was born. Floyd went to work for Simplot Soil builders in January 1969 and worked for them for 32 years retiring in February 2001.
