Floyd Van Der Kamp, son of Paul and Gertie Van Genderen Van Der Kamp, was born April 30, 1921, near Sully, Iowa. He died Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Skiff Medical Center Monarch Wing in Newton, Iowa, at the age of eighty-nine.
Floyd grew up in the Sully area and received his early education in a school near his home.
On December 24, 1941, Floyd was united in marriage with Jeanetta Dieleman in Sully, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Gary, Judy and Steven.
Floyd was employed as a truck driver hauling cream and milk for Sully Co-op Creamery for many years. Floyd and Jeanetta moved to Pella in 1979 and he retired January 1985. Later he was employed at the Pella Corporation.
He is survived by his wife Jeanetta; his three children and their spouses: Gary and Linda Van Der Kamp of Newton, Judy and Donovan Harthoorn of Sarasota, Florida and Steven and Judy Van Der Kamp of Ames; three grandchildren: Tamera and Mark Chew, Tracy Hamilton, and Jeffery Harthoorn; four great-grandchildren: Samatha Harthoorn, Cody Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton and Tiera Chew; one brother: Vernon Van Der Kamp of Arizona; his sisters: Irene Vander Leest of Pella, Ruby Van Wyk of Sully, and Neva Lanser of Sully; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Cleo Van Der Kamp and Milo Van Der Kamp.
