Floyd attended grade school at Center Country School and Chariton High School.  He worked numerous jobs, including Solar Aircraft and Western Tool, Adcock Produce in Chariton and Farmer’s Co-op, where he retired after 35 years.  He also farmed throughout his working years until 1975, when he and his family moved to Chariton.

In 1961, Floyd was united in marriage to Della Irving.  They were blessed with four children:  Dana, Philip, Eric and Karen.  He was from a large, close knit family and family was very important to him.  He was never happier than when his children and grandchildren were all gathered around him.

Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, and coon hunting with his friend, Bob McDonald.  He always put in a garden and could be seen in the tomato patch with a salt shaker.  He liked playing checkers with his grandchildren and riding through Red Haw was a favorite thing.  New Year’s Eve always meant an evening of Bingo with all the family.  Floyd always insisted on calling the numbers.  He was a very loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Eric; sisters, Thelma Fluke, Lois Dachenbach, Wanda Hall; brothers, Charles, Carl, Ronald, Donald and Lavern; sisters-in-law, Lova, Wilma Storm, Veda Peterson and Jane Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law, James Fluke, Truman Dachenbach, Clifford Hall, Junior Davidson, Don Peterson, Norman Fitzgerald, Bill, Bart, Carl, Jim, Dick and Dave Irving.
