Rev. Floyd R. DeBoer was welcomed home into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 21, 2016 with family by his side. He struggled with lung disease for the past few years. Floyd was born to Jacob & Maude DeBoer on January 10, 1930 in Passaic, New Jersey. In the fall of 1948 he entered Calvin College and began his studies to become a Christian Reformed Minister.
On May 27, 1953 he married the love of his life Ruth VanAlthuis, who preceded him in death September 2011. Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. But his greatest joy was ministering God’s word and serving faithfully in 5 different Christian Reformed Churches: Beaverdam CRC (1954-1959) Hudsonville, Ml; Rogers Heights CRC (1959-1965) Grand Rapids, Ml; Newton CRC (1965-1971) Newton, New Jersey; Milwood CRC (1971-1983) Kalamazoo, Ml; Ackley CRC (1983-1991) Ackley, Iowa.
He retired from preaching in 1991 and returned to Kalamazoo, to be near his family. He is survived by their 4 sons and their families: Bob & Char, Ron & Irene, Dan & Jan, John & Chris; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mierop.
