Floyd A. “Ping” Fosnot, 86 of Mallard died Monday June 16 at the Emmetsburg Care Center.
Floyd Fosnot, the son of Durwin and Martha (Ekland) Fosnot was born April 13, 1922 in Curlew, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Curlew, graduating from the Curlew High School. He served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force from 1943-1946. Floyd was hump pilot during the China-Burma-India Theater. He was united in marriage with Marcella “Sally” Stoulil on May 27, 1944. The couple lived and farmed in Curlew, and after their retirement in 1991, moved to town in Mallard. Sally died suddenly in 1992.
In July if 1997 Floyd married Bev Nielsen Westerman. The couple continuted to live in Mallard. Floyd entered the Emmetsburg Care Center in 2006.
Survivors inlcude his wife Bev, Mallard, IA, children: Judy (Don) Miller of Mallard, IA, Bill (Jessica Pinheire) Fosnot of Willows, CA, Jan Nagle of Lewisville, Texas, grandchildren: Jennifer (Todd) Hough, Graettinger, IA, Mike(Kristen) Weller of Crestview, FL, Ashley Weller of Des Moines, IA, Kris Kerr of Willows CA, and Jamie (Chad) Perraut of Tarawa Terrace, NC, great grandchildren: Madison and Max Hough and Katelyn Weller, three step children, six stepgrandchildren and four step great grandsons. Floyd was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post in Mallard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally, and two sisters, Gladys Kress and Violet McKiernan.
