Mr. Harris passed away peacefully at a local medical facility.

FLOYD MAYNARD HARRIS was born January 22, 1928, in Knoxville, TN to Ollie and Ruby Chatman Harris.

In 1962, Floyd married the lovely Helen Elizabeth Parks in Knoxville. Shortly afterwards, they moved to San Diego, California, making it their permanent residence.

Floyd was a life-long insurance agent and administrator. He began his insurance career in 1948 with Union Protective Life of Memphis, TN. After moving to San Diego, he became an agent for Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 1975, he was promoted to Manager from which he retired in 1989. In 1991, he joined the staff at Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary as the Pre-need Specialist. He served families for twenty years and retired in 2011. Many current and former insurance agents were taught and mentored by Floyd. He was respected and admired by many throughout Southern California.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Helen; daughter, Vickie Harris-Waterson; his parents and his baby brother, Carl Douglas Harris.

On Friday, May 24, 2013, Floyd Maynard Harris slipped away peacefully. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Linda Jack Boatwright of Strawberry Plains, TN and Jo Ann (Richard) Hackler of Knoxville, TN; two loving and devoted sisters, Barbara Taylor of Las Vegas, NV and Gladys Kirkland of San Diego, CA; two grandsons, Steven Dewayne Waterson and James Eugene Parks, Jr. both of Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters, Robin Parks Wells of Kansas City, KS, Rhonda Anderson Daies and Christiane Danielle Anderson both of Knoxville, TN; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Josephine Bussell of Cleveland, OH; special friend and brother-in-law, Aaron Taylor of San Diego, CA; niece, Sandra (Marvin) Burum of Powell, TN; nephews, Larry Bussey of Las Vegas, NV and Marty Jackson of San Diego, CA; two great-nieces; one great-nephew; two godchildren, Brandi and Brandon Tabbs and their mother, Linda Tabbs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
