Floyd C. Pyles, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Chicopee, MA on December 21. He was born in Jackson, TN on April 4,1932 to Floyd Pyles, Sr. and Cora (McHaney) Pyles and moved to Holyoke, MA in 1947. He was in the Army National Guard from 1950-1958 and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1951. He then graduated from Merrimack College and the Benjamin Franklin Institute. Over the years Floyd worked for Uniroyal, Pratt & Whitney, Digital and the Westover Base Exchange before retiring in 2010. Floyd was an enthusiastic and talented cook and enjoyed listening to jazz music. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-one years, Gloria Hamilton Pyles, daughters Juliette R. Pyles and Pamela J. Pyles, her husband Henry Wychorski, Jr., grandsons Jeffrey and Bryce and many nephews and nieces. Floyd’s joyous personality touched so many people throughout his ninety years. He will be missed greatly.
