FLOYD C. AUSTIN, 85, longtime Deming resident passed away February 28, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Floyd was born on October 8, 1926 in Greenville, South Carolina to Lottie Elizabeth Daily and Fred S. Austin. Even though he never completed high school he was a very successful entrepreneur at a young age. Throughout his career he was the owner of several food establishments.

He had a bakery in Española and Taos and then a restaurant in Gallup. Floyd served his country as an Army Corporal in Reykjavik, Iceland and is a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He met his loving wife, Mary I. Montaño in Cajilon, NM where they later married and formed a loving family.

Survivors include three sons, Floyd Lee Austin of Seneca, MO, Carlyle A. Austin of Deming and John B. Austin of Deming; three daughters, Linda (Freddie) Gonzales of Gallup, Lottie (Ray) Bradford of Gallup and Yolanda (Bruce) Bieber of Eaglelake, CO; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, a son, Fred Lee Austin, a granddaughter, April Mary Austin, a brother, Raymond Austin and two sisters, Frances Mitchell and Pauline Vincent.
