Floyd Alfred Schneider passed away peacefully in his home in Grand Junction, CO on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from cancer.
Floyd was born on February 28, 1929 to Edward M. and Alice Margaret (Draves) Schneider in Larkin Township, Midland County, Midland, Michigan. He went to school in Larkin Township and left to see the country in his early twenties. He worked his way west as a mason, stopping in Albuquerque then on to Laramie and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He worked out of Denver where he met Shirley Jean Koch in 1962. They were married April 6, 1963 in Lincoln, NE. and celebrated their 52nd anniversary, April 6, 2015. They moved to Pinedale, WY where he started his masonry construction business. To this union, five children were born: Tracy (Doug) Morstad, Casper, WY, Dana (Kip) Schneider Merritt, Scottsdale, AZ, Eric, Jackson Hole, WY, Rory (Tina) Schneider, Torrance, CA and Kurt (Kim) Schneider, Salt Lake City, UT. They moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1988 where he continued work as a stone mason in Aspen, Telluride and Grand Junction. His life- long hobbies included wilderness environmental issues and legislature in Wyoming, and researching Winchester rifles. He was also a model in numerous oil paintings of the late Roy Kerswill, a noted western artist of the mountain man era of the 1800’s.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, five children, seven grandchildren and one sister, Doris (Babe) Finney of Midland, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.
