Florine Alvis Smith, 80, Markleville, passed away April 19, 2011 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson.
She was born July 20, 1930 in Cullman, Alabama, and resided in Markleville since 1958. Florine retired in 1988 from Guide Division of General Motors. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. Florine liked to cook and quilt. She always put others before herself.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Melvin Smith; children, Brenda Hull of Anderson and David Susan Smith of Markleville; sister, Pauline Peek of Anderson; grandchildren, Michael Jeanie Hull, Kevin Smith, Leigh Smith Todd Vargo, Adam Smith and Diane Smith Stan Arthur; six great grandchildren, Hannah Sands, Nora Hull, Reagan Arthur, Quinton Arthur, Jasla Vargo and Bryce Smith and two beloved cats, Thumper and Shaniqua
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha L. Adamson Alvis; sisters, Shirley Jackson and Mary Dean and brother, Frank Alvis.
