On February 7, 2012, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Florence May Smallwood surrendered to the call of the Lord, her God, and went home to receive her crown of glory.
Florence, affectionately known as “Flo” by all who loved and knew her best, was a devoted servant of the Lord and began her spiritual journey at Asbury United Methodist Church in Germantown, Maryland, where she loved singing with her choir The Starlights, diligently served on the Usher Board, and was an active member of the Women’s Ministry. Florence became a member of the Community of Faith United Methodist Church where her relationship with God continued to flourish while doing work for the Kingdom. She was dependable, creative, and a hardworking servant.
