Florence Madonna Eccleston
Norwich – Florence Madonna Eccleston 91, was born May 6, 1922 in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Laura Robarge and died March 2, 2014 at the Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norwich. Florence lived in Putnam until she was 16 years old and then became a life-long resident of Norwich. Florence worked for twenty-five years at ElectroMotive in Willimantic, and finally retired after fifteen years of employment at the William W. Backus Hospital. On February 24, 1942 she was united in marriage to Louis Eccleston. Mr. Eccleston predeceased his wife of 43 years, on February 1, 1986. Florence had three children, Philip Eccleston of Voluntown, Elizabeth Dembrowski Rice of Quaker Hill and Susan Morris of Uncasville. She was grandmother to seven grandchildren, Hope Kidd of Maryland, Kristine Desjardins of Plainfield, Joseph Dembrowski of California, Jennifer Gibbons of Quaker Hill, Monroe Morris,V of Uncasville and Christopher Morris of Florida. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laurie Eccleston, who passed away on June 12, 2004. Mrs. Eccleston was blessed with eight great grandchildren, who affectionately called her G.G., Garrett, Ariel, Daniel, Charlie, Benjamin, Lilly, Avery and Hunter. She was also predeceased by a beloved aunt by marriage, Dorothy Eccleston. Florence greatest joy was her family. She also loved baseball, especially the Brooklyn Dodgers/LA Dodgers, walking, riding the bus, playing scrabble, making puzzles, doing crosswords puzzles, watching Jeopardy and making new friends.
