Florence M. Cockrell, 96, of Grafton, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Taylor County, June 28, 1913, the daughter of the late Hurst and Georgianna Johnston Cunningham. She was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Taylor County Senior Citizens and a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post 3081 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to go shopping and was an excellent cook. She worked in Washington, DC as an Auditor for the Treasure Dept. and she worked at the First National Bank in Grafton. and she also worked in Parkersburg, WV. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Cockrell, one brother; Lawrence Lee Cunningham, one sister; Beatrice Compton She is survived by one niece; Nancy Lee Miller and husband James H. of Hemet, Calif., and one brother-in-law; Rev. Edward Compton of Hemet, Calif. Four great nephews; Rev. Richard Miller, Marc Miller, Steven Miller, and John Cunningham, one great niece; Christy Cunningham, And four great great nieces; Allison, Madeline, Ella, and Lauren, and one great great nephew; Isaac.
