Joanne Fails, age 72 passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Peoria, Illinois, where she was raised and educated.
Joanne has been a resident of Fort Walton Beach since 1966. She worked as a Pro Shop attendant for Gator Lakes Golf Course at Hurlburt Field. She enjoyed her work there and especially looking out for “her golfers” as she affectionately referred to them.
Joanne is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Dees of De Funiak Springs, Leslie Cook and husband Ron of Crestview and one son, Johnny Fails and fiancé Ana Livoti. Seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Cook and wife Mary, David Cook, Greg Cook, Erika Cook, Logan Fails, Tyler Fails, and Athena Dees and a special friend, John “Bud” Toft.
She is predeceased by her parents Lyle and Martha Dawson, a daughter, Georgeanne (Fails) Yamshita, a sister, Virginia Buckingham and a grandson, Jonathan Cook.
