Florence (Flo) Jacqueline Whapham, 76, of Yuma, AZ went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 17, 2012. She was born on October 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Florence McGill, and her son John McKinley Sr.
A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Flo, is survived by her husband of 35 years, Edward Whapham, children, Walter McKinley Sr., Ronald Manley Jr., Ed (Kelley) Manley, Jo-Ann Manley, Trudy Manley, Kenneth (Patricia) Manley Sr., Dianna Manley, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Most of Flo’s life was spent as a military wife traveling from Philadelphia to Yuma where she finally called home. After Ed’s retirement in 2007, they began traveling in their motor home between Pt. Magu CA, ADM Baker CA, Seal Beach CA, and Yuma AZ, making friends with everyone who knew her.
She was the matriarch of our family and is remembered for her unconditional love and compassion for all of her family and friends.
Flo celebrated every holiday with fervor, often dressing for the occasion. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and a great American Patriot. She was a woman of great religious faith and credited God for all of her blessings. Everyone that knew her loved her and she was always quick to take up for the underdog. Fiery and full of life, she was quite the comedian and loved to laugh. She led by example for her children, spoiled her grandchildren, and was the beacon that all of her great grandchildren followed. Words cannot express the loss of this great wife, mother and grandmother. She will be forever remembered through the legacy she left with her family and we will always remember the great woman who created it.
– “For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of our faith in Christ” – Colossians 2:5
