Florence Eva Harris, 88, went to her favorite mountain retreat from Peace Hospice in Great Falls on February 20, 2015, after a short illness. Florence was born to Paul and Clarissa Suden May 19, 1926 in Lewistown, Montana. Her early years were spent on the ranch at Winifred helping Granny and Daddy John. This is where her great love for the outdoors started. The family later moved to Stanford and founded Suden Lumber and Hardware. While attending high school she met the man she would be married to for 57 years, Jack F. Harris. They started their life together on June 3, 1945 and this began their life of Jack playing the drums with Kolar’s Orchestra for dances in Judith Basin and Fergus counties with Florence happily traveling along. Many nights were spent playing card games with friends. Florence and Jack raised three children and enjoyed trips to the cabin on Running Wolf Creek and later at Hughesville, where she enjoyed sharing her morning coffee with the deer and any other wildlife that happened by. Florence enjoyed her years cooking for the many kids at the Stanford School and then for her friends at Stanford Senior Center. She was very civic minded and enjoyed volunteering for the Girl Scouts, 4H, Stanford Woman’s Club, Judith Basin County Fair board, along with several others.
