Mrs. Elkins died May 28, 2015, at St. Josephs Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Florence was born on December 16, 1924, in Bristow, NE, the daughter of Tom and Anna (Belohlovy) Bowers. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from ONeill High School.
On December 15, 1942, Florence married Donald Elkins in ONeill. While her husband served in the Navy, Florence and their son moved to Denver. Following Donalds honorable discharge, the family returned to farm near Chambers. Later, they moved to Johnstown in 1952.
She moved to Norfolk after the death of her husband. Florence volunteered at the Red Cross. She enjoyed knitting and collecting turtles.
Florence is survived by her children: Kenneth Elkins, of Hoskins, Catherine and Larry Morrison, of Omaha, and Paul and Kathy Elkins, of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Axtell, of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas and Wayne; one sister Beatrice Havranek.
